Brett P. Lent, DDS, MS
Dr. Brett Lent grew up in Santa Monica as the son of a dentist. Along with his three younger brothers, he had a great, family-oriented childhood: he was active in sports, scouting, and family activities and trips. From an early age, it was clear to Dr. Lent that family and dentistry were of great importance and interest. He moved to Fresno in 2010 with his wife, Shana, and quickly realized that Fresno would be a great place to raise their family and make their permanent home.
At his core, Dr. Lent believes that great dental health is a cornerstone of everyone’s overall wellbeing and that everyone deserves the right to choose health. He strives to provide high-quality, professional care utilizing state-of-the-art technology, such as the Solea® Laser, and the best materials and techniques available to ensure the best, longest-lasting care possible for his patients.
Education is another core belief of Dr. Lent in that it is what drives us all to keep getting better, and it is why he commits over 100 hours annually to continuing education. His formal education began at UCSB where he earned his Bachelor of Science in molecular, cellular and developmental biology. After graduating, he worked at the West Los Angeles VA Hospital as a dental research assistant in studies regarding chewing efficiency in denture wearers and implant patients. In 2007, he graduated from the UCLA School of Dentistry with dual degrees, a Doctor of Dental Surgery and a Master of Science in oral biology. His early research experience inspired his master’s thesis: Perceived Chewing Difficulty of Dentate Persons and Complete Denture Wearers. Upon graduating dental school, he was one of three in his class to receive the “Excellence in Restorative Dentistry” award.
He continues his pursuit of excellence in dentistry though continuing education courses and his willingness to learn about and embrace current advances in the field. He has been at the forefront in implementing current technology such as digital radiography, photography and the Solea dental laser, which allows for anesthetic free dentistry. Dr. Lent is also an active member of the Faculty Club at Spear Dental Education, which is a prestigious interdisciplinary group of practitioners focused on comprehensive treatment planning to achieve optimal results.
Dr. Lent met his wife, Shana, while in college at UCSB. They were married in 2007, after which Dr. Lent moved to Fresno where Shana was a surgical resident in the UCSF Fresno program. Together, they have a son, Parker, born in 2013, and a daughter, Katelynn, born in 2016. Besides enjoying the thrills and challenges of parenthood, Dr. Lent enjoys golfing, traveling, skiing, snorkeling, cooking, and, most of all, sharing great meals with friends and family.
